Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Working on this beast of a ship has been one of my most enjoyable times I've had in the industry. Star Wars is one of those franchises a lot of visual effects artists aim to get involved in, and I've been lucky to work on 3 of the projects (this is the second of three). I lead the modeling efforts in designing and modeling the Command Ship. What began as a model created for wide shots needed to be covered in smaller details for shots taking place on the surface of the ship. Its the closest we've been to a command ship, so finding purpose in all the broader details we see from afar was a fun task. A small set was built which served as a starting point for building kits to populate the rest of the ship for set extension renders. Additional elements were created to drive the story, and for destruction.

Beyond the models built for the Battle of Exegol, I designed and modeled a set extension outside of one of the meeting rooms seen in the film. This was another opportunity to take some broad details that are very familiar on a Star Destroyer, and adding more details to them that help define their purpose.

Plenty of the things we learned from Solo: A Star Wars Story were also applied to Episode IX, with even more depth and detail. Once again, this was an amazing team effort, and it was an honour to work with so many incredibly talented people that were able to put this together.
